22 Mar Helping farmers with their test
One feature of the second-generation contracts is that the Authority now recognise that in certain circumstances it is reasonable to offer some additional support for your farm clients and to then recover the costs involved through raising a fee.
As long as your practice has made a prior written agreement with the farm, the practice can arrange for additional animal handling equipment or manpower to assist with making the TB test safer and more efficient. It is a requirement that you notify APHA in advance in all cases where this occurs, and that you maintain a record of the keeper’s written agreement with your proposal and fees. This agreement must also be shared with your Farmcare colleagues so that we can maintain a log for the duration of the contract. If you need help in preparation of a suitable document, then please feel free to get in touch with the UK Farmcare office.
